Summary

Kingston Palmer is public enemy number one。 Pain in the butt。 Bane of my existence。 An overgrown nuisance that looks good in a suit。

To Kingston, I'm nothing more than a game。 One that he's sure he can win。 Don't worry; he underestimates my own dedication to winning。 Unfortunately for me, I accidentally signed on to work at his company (yes, yes, it's a loooong story)。 Kingston is my new boss。 But I'm nothing if not efficient。 I'll be an expert at my job all while dutifully ignoring my boss and his ability to lean on door frames。 My task is to create a nonprofit that benefits the community。 Easy peasy。 It's everything else that gets complicated: avoiding my boss, making the required snide comments, and turning him down for dates is turning into a full-time job all on its own。 It's not like he actually wants me。 At least, I don't think so。。。

Play Me Once is the sequel to Forget Me Twice! Willa and Kingston are getting their story in this enemies-to-lovers romcom。

HAPPY RELEASE DAY to Play Me Once by Carina Taylor。 This is the sequel to Forget Me Twice, one of my favorite books I’ve read in the last few years, and I was VERY excited to read more about Willa and Kingston。 Willa is hesitant to go out with Kingston after accidentally overhearing a comment he made in the past about not wanting a long-term relationship。 Regardless, there is always plenty of banter and romantic tension when they get together (two things Taylor writes VERY well), and Willa and K HAPPY RELEASE DAY to Play Me Once by Carina Taylor。 This is the sequel to Forget Me Twice, one of my favorite books I’ve read in the last few years, and I was VERY excited to read more about Willa and Kingston。 Willa is hesitant to go out with Kingston after accidentally overhearing a comment he made in the past about not wanting a long-term relationship。 Regardless, there is always plenty of banter and romantic tension when they get together (two things Taylor writes VERY well), and Willa and Kingston accidentally find themselves becoming “kissing buddies。” When Kingston is asked to provide a service to the community in order for his company to purchase a new building, he hires Willa and her PR expertise to create the project。 Taylor’s writing and story-building gets better and better with every book she writes, and Willa and Kingston’s mutual trajectory towards a meaningful and long-lasting relationship was so fun to read! I also just love that these books are SO funny (“she’s a zesty thing”), with a colorful cast of supporting characters including Margaret, Archie, and Meyer。 Read this if you love: Banter! Cat cafes! Accidental kissing! Dancing! Falling in love despite all efforts! You don’t necessarily have to read Forget Me Twice first but you should because it is perfect。 Thanks to the author for the ARC; all opinions expressed are my own。 。。。more

I just couldn’t get into it, try as I might。 The tropes failed me on this one。 Enemies to lovers? Not at all, simply two people who have different thoughts on dating。 Office romance? Barely。 He falls first? Doesn’t really count if he continues to push her away。 There are some fun moments and a unique, lighthearted vibe, but something was off for me the whole way through。 I’m sure there are readers who are going to love this one, but it wasn’t a win for me。The story follows Willa, a consultant wh I just couldn’t get into it, try as I might。 The tropes failed me on this one。 Enemies to lovers? Not at all, simply two people who have different thoughts on dating。 Office romance? Barely。 He falls first? Doesn’t really count if he continues to push her away。 There are some fun moments and a unique, lighthearted vibe, but something was off for me the whole way through。 I’m sure there are readers who are going to love this one, but it wasn’t a win for me。The story follows Willa, a consultant who is ready for a more stable job。 She decides to apply for a position at one of the biggest companies in her small town, not realizing that her new boss is the man who has been trying to convince her to go out with him。 Though Willa acknowledges that she and Kingston have chemistry, their plans to go on a date went awry when Willa overheard him saying that they’re just going to have some temporary fun。 Kingston never meant to hurt Willa’s feelings - and he would still love to have that date - so he’s excited by the prospect of having Willa come work for his company。 As the two spend more time together, the attraction between them is tough to ignore。I guess I saw this one playing out differently, I just didn’t love that Kingston continued to pursue Willa even when he had no intention of starting up something real with her。 I was genuinely confused by his motivations at times, though I guess he was too。 There was also zero conflict about him pursuing his sister’s best friend (not to mention his new employee) for something that he wholly intended to be temporary。 Seems ill-advised。 But I also didn’t feel the chemistry。 There were definitely some good moments of banter and an overall playful tone, but some of the scenes fell flat。 I’ve got nothing against closed door romance, but sometimes it gets in the way of the story。 All in all, I've read better by the author and simply didn't love this one。 I received an early copy, and am voluntarily leaving a review of this lighthearted romance。 。。。more

Play Me Once is a sweet, clean, enemies to lovers romance。 This is the 2nd in the series but definitely stands alone, although the first book, Forget Me Twice, is definitely worth the read。 I really enjoyed these characters, they were so well devoloped and likable。 Although this is a clean romance, there is plenty of chemistry, a hard balance in the sweet romance genre。 I will definitely continue to read her books, I'll be first in line。 Play Me Once is a sweet, clean, enemies to lovers romance。 This is the 2nd in the series but definitely stands alone, although the first book, Forget Me Twice, is definitely worth the read。 I really enjoyed these characters, they were so well devoloped and likable。 Although this is a clean romance, there is plenty of chemistry, a hard balance in the sweet romance genre。 I will definitely continue to read her books, I'll be first in line。 。。。more

This book was fun, Willa and Kingston were just a fun couple, I loved the development of their relationship, which was brilliantly written from their first meeting, to their work relationship, which they both tried to keep professional。 Willa was a character who stood by her values and how she wanted to be treated。 kingston was a character who was ambitious, driven, and willing to help Willa, when she needed help。 This book was an enjoyable read。 I am definitely a fan of Carina's books。 Thank yo This book was fun, Willa and Kingston were just a fun couple, I loved the development of their relationship, which was brilliantly written from their first meeting, to their work relationship, which they both tried to keep professional。 Willa was a character who stood by her values and how she wanted to be treated。 kingston was a character who was ambitious, driven, and willing to help Willa, when she needed help。 This book was an enjoyable read。 I am definitely a fan of Carina's books。 Thank you for the ARC 。。。more

I found this book to be so cute and I was actually laughing out loud while reading this。 I loved the characters in this book, Willa who's smart, funny, talented, and not a fan of Kingston after he said something rude about her to a friend。 Kingston who is hot, funny and the king of putting his foot in his mouth and also a big fan of Willa from the very beginning。 This book overall was just a breath of fresh air。 And I mean, who doesn't love cats? While most characters from the first book are mentioned in this sequel, it can be read as a standalone。 They’re just as loveable as they were the first time around, but now with cats! 🐈Play Me Once focuses on the two main characters Willa and Kingston, who couldn’t be more perfect for each other even though they weren’t dating for most of the book。 They have this sort of enemies-to-lovers vibe, but I loved their banter。 It’s less childish than most with the trope, and just shows how much Willa and Kingston challenge each other。 It is also in their actions rather than words that show how they’re just perfect for each other, especially with Kingston being so persistent in most things, like dating Willa and reminding her to eat (FYI – check TW)。 Though this book doesn’t contain a lot of heavy drama, some heavy topics were discussed but not in much detail。 Carina Taylor’s new novel is an enjoyable, lighthearted read, filled with flirty banters and swoon-worthy moments。 Plus if you love cats, you should definitely check this one out when it releases in a few days! 。。。more
